I never thought my work injury would cause me so many issues in PSO2 socially

The biggest problem I've ever had with MMO's?
The other people.
I started playing PSO2 back in May. Found a work around for getting the game here in the UK early, and what with being on furlough due to the current pandemic, I sank a lot of time into it. I'd played Phantasy Star 2 on the Megadrive and a little bit of PSU back in the 360 days, so was excited to give it a go. However, there was an issue...
Last year I sustained an injury at work (an accident involving machinery...) resulting in my index finger and middle finger on my right hand being semi-paralyzed. Basically, I can very slightly move them sometimes, but I wouldn't rely in them to do anything. Occasionally my thumb seizes up too, so I can't exactly rely on that either. If I attempt to use any of those digits extensively, I get bad pains and cramps along the back of my hand. Isn't permanent nerve damage fun? I've had various physio sessions and am on a repeat prescription for painkillers, but I will never have full use of my right hand ever again, and yes, it was my dominant hand.
It's an ongoing struggle to not let it rule everything I do, but obviously I've had to make a lot of lifestyle adjustments. The most relevant one here being how I game. I'm very much a console gamer. Turn based JRPG's are now my best friend. Classic Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Pokémon remain very much unchanged, just at a bit of a slower pace. Everything else... When I booted up a new game, usually the first thing I do (if the option is available) is to crank the game up to the highest difficulty. I just find games more fun if there's a fair challenge. Let me... try my best to describe how I use a controller now for the longest and easiest gameplay. I rest the whole controller on my thigh. So left hand, as you'd expect, left hand is fine. Right, I use the palm of my hand to control the right thumbstick (thankfully most games, just the camera). A thumbgrip on the stick makes this easier than you'd think. My ring and little finger do all the rest, so on an Xbox controller that's A,B, X, Y and the two R buttons. I'll use my left hand if I need to use the Menu button. It's really not easy, and whilst I'm learning to get used to it, it is still a struggle, and my days of hardest difficulty are long over.
Now back to PSO2...
There's many different ways to play and enjoy the game. Explorations and ARKS quests are no real issue for me, Casino sessions are a ridiculous amount of fun, I love the story, and fashion... DAMN, I love CASTs. Urgent Quests... For the most part, I'm actually OK with it. Mining Bases and Gone With the Wind and Rain were my first few UQs at max level (75 at the time).
I play Braver. Initially this was because in games where you can choose a class like this one, I've always favoured bows and quick melee weapons. Braver appealed to me. I stuck to this class because Morning Mistreaver combined with the Katana Combat invincibility is very forgiving for my ailment.
Dark Falz Elder I remember being the first one I died a lot in. I majorly ticked off my alliance at the time with how badly I was doing. I decided to explain my injury in the alliance Discord, hoping they'd just keep it in the back of their minds when they played with me. What happened next... My alliance basically split in two with me. Half I expected, the other half I didn't.
So one half did exactly what I feared an shunned me. Wasn't allowed in any triggers, was never invited to the UQs, wasn't even allowed to come along for VHAQ and SHAQ's which I had no real issues with. I was sad but I can't expect serious end game players to bring along a player with a handicap. What bothered me was that people who I had banter with in the lobby now would no longer even talk to me. That hurt.
The other half... I became a charity case, or maybe a challenge? People would take me, but encourage me to just be there. I was being prompted to be carried. UQs would come along, not even Elder, and alliance chat would have people telling me they don't need a 4th so I can 'tag along and watch'. Also, some people started talking to me in layman's terms, or over explaining things, talking to me as if I had a mental disability. No offence to people who do of course, but my disability is physical. I know how to augment and I research the market and drops to see what gear is best. I don't need someone telling me to 'imagine your weapon is a pet. You want your pet to grow big and strong, don't you? So you need all these vitamins to feed him to make him the best he can be! So get these other weapons with the vitamins you need, and you can get an even better weapon for yourself!'. I wish I was exaggerating... as I sat there with my Nemesis Cougar with 6 augments I did myself including ARKS Max and Apprentice Soul (which if you remember back then was a big deal).
I left that alliance, switched the blocks I frequent and moved on. I joined a new alliance and told myself I wouldn't tell anyone else about my hand. I'd rather have people just think I was a bad player. I ended up just joining randoms for the boss UQs from now on. It stayed this way for a long time... until the Fellwyrm. Before the first time it popped up, I was already chilling with fellow alliance members in the lobby. My plan was to break off when the emergency announcement went up, but received a party invite from an alliance officer before I could. I decided what the hey and accepted, figuring I could play it off as a new UQ and that I'm not sure how it works if I died a lot. I made the mistake of saying as a joke 'Sorry if I die, new UQ, gotta learn it! XD', to have the officer say they're a JP vet, explaining the basic outline and giving a few tips. It was genuinely quite helpful, and I only died twice! Then I learned it was a 2 part quest...
Yes, I had attempted Deus Esca with randoms before this one, and yes, I was responsible for 4 of the 5 deaths (2 of the people in the party blocked me afterwards). I told myself OK, not going to burden anyone with part two any more, that's unfair to others. I tried to back out of my party before the second half, saying I didn't want to do it, I'll make us reach the death limit, to be told there wasn't one. I left the party to be re-invited into it... So because (I thought) I got on well with the officer, I decided to go for it. We... ran out the timer. Granted, not just my fault (another member of the party wasn't fantastic either), but I got singled out by the officer for the blame on it as they noted I was pretty much just using one photon art (Morning Mistreaver. It does good damage and helps with aim and gap closing, genuinely so helpful) and rarely if ever used my bow. I met the ugly side of this officer and was asked to give a public apology and an explanation for my actions, as I had now 'deprived 3 members of the alliance a proper experience with the Urgent Quest'. There was even talk of me compensating them with Meseta. I tried to plead my case that I did say and try to leave (with one party member thankfully taking my side in that one), and even contemplated explaining my condition... but instead just logged off. I was pinged many times in Discord, but muted. When I logged into PSO2 the next day, I was no longer a member of the alliance, and had a Discord PM from the leader (who was offline during this UQ) saying they heard I had purposely gone out of my way to deprive my fellow members of a good experience, with logging out (to escape abuse) apparently solidified I did it out of spite.
I decided to go at it as a solo player, and told myself I'd never do another UQ.
I changed blocks again but... This time I found it hard to socialise with anyone. If people would chat to me, I would go quiet, bolt if asked to join anyone for stuff, and often pretend to be AFK and just lobby watch, forever torn between wanting to join the fun and not wanting to spoil it. I also made an Alt as Summoner class in hopes that maybe that class would work out better for me, and honestly it probably does but I find it such a dull class to play. Just a personal preference.
I do log into this game everyday. That can be a full session, or can just be 15 mins or so to knock out the daily missions. One day whilst I was lobby watching in a popular block, I actually jumped on a conversation when people were talking about Phantasy Star 2 on the Megadrive. There's lots of players who have been playing Phantasy Star since the Dreamcast, but it's less common to find people from the old bit days. Turns out the people in the conversation were in an alliance together, one of which being the leader. They invited me to join. I hesitated at first, telling them I hadn't had much luck with the social side of things. They told me they were a chill alliance, and a bonus is the leader and a lot of members were UK based, so no problems with time zones matching up. I went for it... However I still had issues socialising.
I often still lobby watched. I think subconsciously I didn't want to build up more social connections to have them severed again by my abilities. Honestly I'm not bothered about going to UQs, I'm more upset that the social aspect of the game is being hindered because of my ailment. We were in the second or third week of Halloween events when I joined this alliance, making Trick or Treat my first UQ since the dragon. It was a pretty easy one too, had a lot of fun with that one.
This alliance liked to have characters of NPC players too, spurring me to make one and try out ranger class. As much as I love my braver, Ranger class actually works stupidly well for me too, and honestly I don't know why I didn't try it sooner.
And yet despite this, I still couldn't find it in myself to properly be social again. I'd see events in Discord and say I was going to join in but then just didn't. I tried joining in with more NPC shenanigans but...
It was like my mind was telling me to back off before I was shunned again.
We had a lot of alliance drama completely unrelated to all that recently. It involved a rift in the officers and the leader leaving and taking most of the other members with them. To my dismay it was pretty much all the UK players that left, meaning I'd now often be logging out as all the alliance events were happening. I wasn't scouted for the new alliance. I guess I wasn't social enough, but to be honest I don't think I would've joined anyway due to my views on how the ordeal went down.
I want a 15* fancy weapon, so I've been braving the Persona UQ. To be honest I think I'm definitely getting used to it all, I'm managing to get through it with no deaths on both my Braver and my Ranger. I even decided to run with the alliance again... which got me invited to a 4 man trigger. Yes, I died a lot, but I needed that void stuff. To be honest, the alliance reacted very well to it, not bothered at all that I was down a lot. I took myself out of the equation for future 4 man triggers, but was pleasantly surprised that there was no backlash. The only thing that's bothering me is I'm getting advice on skill trees and tactics that I can't pull off, but that's nothing major. Hope they're not expecting to see any improvements.
This now small alliance is so different to the others I've been in. Maybe they'll react differently to my ailment, and I'm concerned that if I don't say anything that I may get pushed out. Should I tell them? I'm contemplating confiding in my alliance leader first and then seeing how they react, but then if they react negatively that could affect my position. I don't want to switch social blocks again, I'm enjoying the social atmosphere of the game again. Maybe I'm overthinking it, and these bad experiences I should just disregard as isolated incidents, but then I think of how well I got on with people in my previous groups before they found out about my ailment and/or how bad I was at the game.
What do I do? I genuinely don't know any more.
I guess what I'm trying to say is don't treat people badly for not being great at the game, and remember that the social aspect can be taken separately to the core game. You never know what your actions will do to people long term.

So there's this primitive plus server that has a cool idea

I'm a steam pc player. I actually own a two server cluster hosted by Gportal. Out of curiosity, I tried out this server. It was advertised as a Naruto themed server. The admins actually built the hidden villages from the show. When you join the server they put in one of the villages/tribe/base. Primitive plus has its set of challenges and add in a Naruto themed pvp environment, and admins who creat special challenges and ninja missions for survivors to complete, you have a whole experience in ark. I'm a pretty big Naruto fan and an even bigger ark fan. I've been playing on this server for a few weeks now and I'm having a blast. Now my question, is there anyone out there who also thinks this is cool? If so you should let me know and I can send the links. Its xbox and windows 10 pvp on ragnarok with no offline raiding.

Pc vs next gen consoles price in depth analysis

First of all I don't want to start a war. I just want to clarify some things regarding the price of pc gaming.
Let's start with calculating the price of ownership of a ps5.
Online subscriptions
A ps5 is 500$. But most people want to play multiplayer games that need an online subscription like fall guys, call of duty, battlefield, Borderlands, Rainbow six siege etc, so we need to take that into account as well. Playing online for an entire console generation(which is 7 years) will require let's say 6 one year ps plus subscriptions(im saying six because not all people buy consoles on launch and many people will keep their last gen console for a few years after the release of the next Gen console). That's 6×60=360$.
Some people may argue that this is not fair because with ps plus you get free games and there's ps plus collection now. Well on epic games store alone you get double the games of ps plus every month(like 1-2 games every week). You also get free games from Itchio(frequently), indiegala(frequently), steam(sometimes), uplay(sometimes) and humble bundle(sometimes). The quality of the games on ps plus is comparable to those you get on epic games and uplay. On the other stores most are mediocre but sometimes there are some that are good. With games like gta 5, ARK survival evolved, subnautica, left 4 Dead 2 and watch dogs 1&2 having been free on pc I don't think anyone can say that the quality of free pc games isn't comparable to those on ps plus. As for ps plus collection most of these games are single player and left on the shelf after finishing them, so you can get games of comparable quality on gamepass for 10$ a month, finish them and never play them again.
Games prices
Games are cheaper on average on pc. Of course some games are gonna be the same price at both platforms and some cheaper on console(like red dead redemption 2 or horizon zero dawn) but you have to take into account 10$ epic games coupons, legit sites on isthereanydeal.com that constantly have sales and cheaper games than on steam, as well as cheap bundles sold on humble bundle and other sites. Due to these sites there a many communities formed for selling and trading keys acquired from these sites like SteamGameSwap and indiegameswap . Also for people like me that live in Europe it's unfortunate the fact that playstation exclusives will launch at 80€ which is the price of a deluxe version of a video game. Taking all that into account I think it's fair to say that pc games will cost 10$ less on average. For 20 games that's 20×10=200$ saved.
However some people might argue that on consoles you can buy used games and share a game with a friend. You can actually do that but when buying used games and share a game with a friend you contribute 0$ to the developers of a game, just like piracy. So why not just pirate if you're not gonna give the devs a penny anyway. Also there is some progress in pc gaming for sharing games, and that's Steam Family Sharing which allows you to use the entire library of a friend's games . However it does have some disadvantages like not all games supporting this feature and being unable to use your friends library when he's online playing one of his games. But this feature is ideal for games that can be played offline.
So taking all of what I said into account the cost of ownership of a ps5 compared to a pc is 500+360+200=1060$.
Now let's calculate the cost of an Xbox series x compared to a pc.
Xbox gamers will need to pay for Xbox live gold to play online. For 9 months every year Xbox gamers will need to pay three 3 month xbox live gold subscriptions which is 25$ each so in total that's 25×3=75$. For an entire console generation they will need 6×75=450$ and that's with 9 months of online multiplayer every year, not 12. As for games let's say every game is 8$ cheaper than pc games(2$ cheaper due to ps exclusives), so for 20 games that's 20×8=160$ saved for pc gaming.
So in total the cost of ownership of an Xbox series x compared to a pc is 500+360+160=1020$
Some might argue that you can get gamepass ultimate which includes Xbox live gold for 15$ a month. That's 5$ more than gamepass on pc. For 12 months a year and for 6 years that's 5×(12×6)=5×72=360$ saved on the pc gaming side of things(supposing that people will use gamepass on these platforms every month of the year for 6 years). Add also the price of 15 non gamepass games (5 less than before due to gamepass usage) which is 15×8=120$.
So in total the price of an Xbox series x compared to a pc and taking into account the usage of gamepass is 500+360+120=980$.
Pc equivalent to a next Gen console
A pc equivalent to a next Gen console will have the following parts:
GPU: RTX 3060 or an amd 3060 ti equivalent at 390$ (390$ because the 3060 ti will cost 400$ as rumored so the amd fe equivalent will probably cost 350$ so let's say 40$ more for an aftermarket card and in case the speculation is incorrect)
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600 220$ as rumored
Ram: G.SKILL Aegis 16GB (2 x 8GB) 54.99$
Motherboard: MSI MAG B550M BAZOOKA AM4 AMD B550 129.99$
SSD: Samsung 980 pro 149.99$
HDD: WD Blue 1 TB 44.99$
PSU: EVGA Supernova 650 GA, 80 Plus Gold 650W 97.99$
Case: Cooler Master MasterBox MB510L 49.99$
Windows:free
(These are the prices at the time I posted)
In total the pc is 1137.94$ which includes more storage than next Gen consoles. For next Gen consoles you are obliged to buy an expensive 220$ pcie 4.0 ssd instead of a 40$ 1 tb hdd or a 130$ pcie 3.0 ssd to expand your storage, not to mention some other dumb extra charges to change your username for a second time on PlayStation.
So that's around 160$ more expensive than an Xbox series x and 80$ more expensive than a ps5. So a pc is not a whole lot more expensive than a console like a lot people say. It can be but that's just an option. Besides those price differences will be payed off in the next console generation since pc gamers can sell their older hardware to save money and will most likely need to upgrade their motherboard, cpu and gpu(+ram for the specific next Gen since ddr5 will be available and storage if they want to), so not all their parts.
That's what I wanted to say. I hope I don't see comments like pc gamers need to upgrade every 3-4 years to keep up with consoles. Remember Cyberpunk 2077 will run on an FX-8310 and GTX 780 3 GB.

Memories of Mars - A weird experience - Only 2 hours in so far

I picked up this game on the PSN under £16 offer after watching the trailer and it seems like the kind of game that I am terrible at, but totally love. Like right now I have active saves in Ark and Atlas which are survival games, one is a dinosaur world survival game and the other is a Pirates of the Carribean Survival style game.
The premise of the game is simple, you wake up in a lab on Mars with no memory of how you got there. You are sent transmissions advising of a catastrophy that hit Mars and all the colonists are dead or dying and you need to figure out why. You notice a spider like robot watching you then it scuttles away. The next 10 or so minutes is a brief tutorial and then the game just plonks you down on the surface of mars to figure it out and solve the problem if you can. Armed with a gun, a 3d printer and not much else, you need to scavenge for supplies and get your footing on the planet.
First off I will get the negatives out the way. The game's description on PSN states that it has offline single player, I may have not had a good enough look around the options screen but I was unable to start an offline single player games because there was no option for it, it HAD to be played online. So I logged into a PVE server.
Next up the tutorial, the tutorial teaches you all these things and equips you with the bare minimum equipment to get started, it seems fine until the game drops you out of the tutorial, with the gun you had, the 3D printer you picked up, but it takes away the mining tool and welding torch you had. Instead you need to follow the instructions on screen to get this equipment back and it's only a minor quibble but it was annoying.
Carry capacity is a minor quibble, I constantly found myself over encumbered because I was getting as much iron ore as I could to start building a base.
Last minor quibble is the controls, they take a while to get used to and seem at odds with other games in the similar vein. I found myself pressing the wrong button more than once. I have not checked if I could remap as I only played 2 hours of it last night before going to bed, but I will investigate later today.
With those out of the way I can honestly say this game is fun, the game has other players and their structures in the game and that's fun to see, it adds some character to the world and I only saw 1 other player during my play time. We did not interact, he was dealing with some robot spiders and I was running away from the battle, trying to conserve the ammo I had. The game really directs you what to do the first few hours, guiding you to get the equipment you need and building your first base. When it comes to equipment and building, you unlock blueprints to build equipment through your experience gained. The experience is called Flops and you spend the flops in the tech trees to unlock specific equipment and when the upfront direction slows down it will become your choice on what to unlock first. The good thing is, flops are gained easily just by doing things. What you would normally do the world gains you the XP and you can acrue them just by scavening.
In my first 2 hours I was able to craft the first load of equipment I need, welding torch, mining tool and some basic chest armour. I built a small 4x4 square base and was ready to start building more complex tools and expand the base upward create a second bigger floor with more space and storage units because you need as much storage space possible for everything you gather.
It's on offer on PSN and Xbox 1, if you want a serious PVP survival game, then this is NOT for you, there are PVP servers but the chat about the game is that the PVP servers are dead. The PvE servers aren't much better but I love the game, it's a chilled out experience and when combat happens, the gun I had felt good and being able to craft ammo was a great addition. If I didn't have enough bullets, it was my own fault. I do hope there is an offline single player option because if the servers get turned off then there is no way to play this fun interesting title.

Servers Missing From List (XBOX ONE)

I play on an Offline Raid Protection server (Valguero) on XBOX One, but it is often missing from the server list whenever Ark is booted up. Restarting Ark or the Xbox itself does nothing, but people who are logged in to the server already can invite you (if you know someone who is on). Anyone know how to fix that it isnt showing up on the server list when it should? I've spoken with other individuals on the server and this seems to be a common issue.

VideoGamer - Alice Bell Review-In-Progress ~ Review-In-Progress We've still got to do some online testing when the servers are up, but the offline lobby for Dragon Ball FighterZ suggests this is going to be a good 'un. Whether or not you like fighting games or Dragon Ball, extremely dramatic villains and hench dudes with giant hair hurling fireballs at each other (all set to unceasing guitar solos) is kind of inherently enjoyable. PS4
Polygon - Jeff Ramos Review-In-Progress ~ Review-In-Progress With everything I've played so far, Dragon Ball FighterZ made me feel as powerful and unstoppable as one of the series' lauded heroes.
USgamer - Mike Williams Review-In-Progress ~ Review-In-Progress What's here is a complete package, with a fighting game that's fun for fans, but still has depth for masters. There's a robust Story Mode, a branching Arcade Mode, and a whole host of characters to learn. Arc System Works has poured a deep amount love for Dragon Ball Z into the game and it shows. PS4
AngryCentaurGaming - Jeremy Penter Buy - Buy This is absolutely a 'Buy'. As with games like this, if you're into the absolute nitty-gritty, you might want to wait and see how things flush out and how the top level players end up enjoying it, but overall this was a fantastic title and one I will return to again and again and again. It doesn't matter if you're doing the tournament, you're doing the local, or what have you- There is an incredible amount to be offered here and well I would've liked a couple more characters, I think that the DLC will shore most of that up. Also if anything changes when it comes to the online or any other elements, I'll definitely update that in a video XB1
Eurogamer - Wesley Yin-Poole Essential ~ Essential Dragon Ball FighterZ is a fantastic fighting game, and worth playing whether you're into Dragon Ball and fighters or not. PS4
Kotaku - Mike Fahey Unscored ~ Unscored Arc System Works has created the most approachable Dragon Ball game ever, and one of the most accessible fighting games. Fans of either should be overjoyed to welcome newcomers to their ranks, and those newcomers get to experience two of the most accepting and supportive communities in fandom. Everybody wins. XB1, PC
MonsterVine - Spencer Legacy 100 ~ 5 / 5 Dragon Ball FighterZ is one of the best fighting games I have ever played. Everything about FighterZ, from the gameplay to the visuals, is an absolute blast that will please anyone who enjoys Dragon Ball and/or exciting but accessible fighting games. A slightly padded story can’t hold back this immovable force of a fighting game that you need to be playing right now. PS4
Marooners' Rock - Mike Robles 98 ~ 9.8 / 10 A New Challenger Approaches and it's name is Dragon Ball FighterZ. Bandai Namco and Arc System Works have delivered something astounding and I know that myself, and the FGC are excited to bear witness of what's to come in this game's life cycle. XB1
Cheat Code Central - Lucas White 96 ~ 4.8 / 5 Dragon Ball FighterZ feels like it hits a sweet spot, retaining the look and feel of a versus fighter while reining in the complexities that make fighting games still so hard to get into. The mechanical streamlining is supplemented with a story mode that is a silly love letter to the license, that takes its time to let the player learn how to play the game while still having fun and enjoying a new story. It’s a full, hearty experience that fans of Dragon Ball will go nuts over, and fighting games on the outside won’t be able to resist diving into either.
CGMagazine - Cole Watson 95 ~ 9.5 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ is the perfect marriage of source material enriched gameplay and original presentation. Ark System Works has created a fantastic experience that a wide audience of players and passionate fans are sure to enjoy. PS4
Player. One - Phillip Martinez 95 ~ 9.5 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ lives up to the hype that manifested from its initial reveal. Its gorgeous art style and movements compliment some really crisp and fluid gameplay that anyone can pick up and enjoy. PS4
MMOGames - Nick Shively 95 ~ 9.5 / 10 If you enjoy fighting games or are a fan of Dragon Ball then I can't recommend Dragon Ball FighterZ enough. The gameplay is addicting, the visuals are outstanding, and it finally feels like you're fighting in the anime. PS4
PSX Brasil - Ivan Nikolai Barkow Castilho - Portuguese 95 ~ 9.5 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ is an excellent fighting game. It has beautiful graphics that are very faithful to the anime. The gameplay, although simple at first glance, has a depth that can be explored by the most dedicated players. The online mode does not disappoint either, except for the difficulty of playing it with friends. The story mode, despite having a slow start and being unnecessarily too long, is worth checking out. In the end, Dragon Ball FighterZ deserves to be played. PS4
Game Informer - Suriel Vazquez 93 ~ 9.3 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ seamlessly blends accessibility and complexity, making for a feverishly-paced fighter that makes the learning process gradual and engaging, and gives casual players hours of worthwhile things to do solo and potentially turning fighting game fans on to the world of Dragon Ball. PS4
Hobby Consolas - Daniel Quesada - Spanish 91 ~ 91 / 100 We don´t know if FighterZ is the best current fighting game, but it's for sure the most spectacular Dragon Ball game. Don´t let the frantic combats fool you: there are lots of mechanics and tricks to master. PS4
Wccftech - Dave Aubrey 90 ~ 9 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ is possibly the greatest Dragon Ball game of all time, and already one of the best fighting games of the year, if not the best. Great fighting and amazing visuals collide in this excellent anime fighter. PS4
EGM - Evan Slead 90 ~ 9 / 10 While there have been many fighting games based on the Dragon Ball franchise, Dragon Ball FighterZ marks a modern approach through the means of fast-paced action. From its breathtaking visuals to ease of gameplay mastery, the new fighter is a good stepping stone to expand the fan base of the genre. However, it may not satisfy players who are looking for complexity. PS4
Hardcore Gamer - Chris Shive 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 Dragon Ball FighterZ is a rare gem in a sea of licensed games. XB1
Spaziogames - Mario Petillo - Italian 90 ~ 9 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ is an incredible fighting game, with a rock-solid and spectacular combat-system, and the unique Dragon Ball Universe behind it. Competitive and fun, except for the not so brilliant story mode, is an absolute must-have for both the fans of the saga and the fighting game lovers. PS4
GameSpot - Peter Brown 90 ~ 9 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ is a great fighting game and an exciting revitalization of Dragon Ball Z's glory days. PS4, XB1
GBAtemp - Krista Noren 90 ~ 9 / 10 Dragon Ball Z is a video game franchise that has many beloved entries, from the Legacy of Goku series, to the Budokai and Tenkaichi games. However, these games have always been targeted to its niche fanbase. Dragon Ball FighterZ is different; it's a fighting game that everyone, including veteran DBZ fans and newcomers alike, can enjoy wholeheartedly. PS4
Metro GameCentral - GameCentral 90 ~ 9 / 10 A dream come true for Dragon Ball fans, but also a highly competent fighting game that is a front runner for the best fighter of the generation.
God is a Geek - Adam Cook 90 ~ 9 / 10 An exquisite feeling fighter that is both approachable and deep. Time will tell if it has staying power, but it's the best use of the Dragon Ball Z name in quite some time. PS4
The Digital Fix - Jason Coles 90 ~ 9 / 10 A fantastic fighting game for newcomers and fans of the genre alike, filled with knowing nods to the fans of the show. Dragon Ball FighterZ is a genuine delight to play and to watch. PS4
PS Site - Sebastian Kasparek - Polish 90 ~ 9 / 10 An amazingly beautiful and incredibly fun fighting game for dozens of hours. A spectacular title full of nostalgia – a true homage to the legendary Dragon Ball. PS4
Critical Hit - Darren Bonthuys 90 ~ 9 / 10 The definitive Dragon Ball fighting game, bar none. Arc System Works have created a game which walks across many a fine line, blending style with substance and accessibility with reverence for the source material. It's wild, it rocks my dragon and it sets a benchmark for the series that proudly enters the domain of fight game gods. PS4
TrueGaming - عمر العمودي - Arabic 90 ~ 9 / 10 Finally a fighting game with anime licenses that offers a distinctive experience of all elements, one of the best fighting games this generation on consoles with impressive graphics and a style of gameplay that is very entertaining. PS4
Saudi Gamer - عصام الشهوان - Arabic 90 ~ 9 / 10 A visually stunning game that channels the series it's based on perfectly, with a system that's easy to grasp and challenging to master, and a decent amount of content with only a handful of minor flaws to it. PS4
Do You Even Game Bro? - Edward Darling 90 ~ 9 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ is an awesome game, and whether you’re a fan of the genre or a fan of the series, you’ll find it packed to the brim with stuff to do and things to love. The stunning visuals, enjoyable story and accessible gameplay mechanics have already made it one of my favourite releases of the New Year. Not only has it sparked a competitive spirit within me (which I plan to take online), it’s also inspired me to dig out my old VHS recordings of Cheez TV. On second thought, maybe I’ll just stream it. PS4
GameSkinny - Ty Arthur 90 ~ 9 / 10 stars Slick combat, plenty of modes, and the best visual representation of the franchise in a video game yet make Dragon Ball FighterZ a game you definitely want to play! PS4
Shacknews - Blake Morse 90 ~ 9 / 10 This is truly the best Dragon Ball fighter I’ve played since the Super Famicom imports. It’s pure fighting bliss that makes you feel as OP as the characters on the show by adding so much style and flare. Longtime fans and newer fans who may just be familiar with Dragon Ball Super will find something to enjoy here if they’re fans of fighters.
Geek Culture Podcast - Dean James 90 ~ 9 /10 Taking a mix of their own Guilty Gear or BlazBlue series and combining it with a little of Marvel vs. Capcom and surrounding it with a Dragon Ball coat of paint was just the recipe for Arc System Works with Dragon Ball FighterZ that makes it the game fans of the franchise have truly been waiting for all these years. PS4
LevelUp - Luis Sánchez - Spanish 90 ~ 9 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ balances style and concept very well. It's an easy game for newcomers, but has room for experts in the genre to develop advanced skills. This may be the very best Dragon Ball fighting game to date because it captures, aesthetically and mechanically, the core and most enjoyable aspects of the series that fans have enjoyed for decades. XB1
Slant Magazine - Justin Clark 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars This is a gleaming example of how to craft a fighting game that feels like it has its arms open for everyone to enjoy. PS4
The Games Machine - Danilo Dellafrana - Italian 90 ~ 9 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ manages to make every player happy: it's the kind of experience that's deep and challenging, yet at the same time affordable for newcomers. The combat system is a little too focused on the attack, and it's not possible to break combos, but Arc System Works made a remarkable work here, the perfect entry point for everyone who considered Street Fighter V or Guilty Gear too technical and complex. PS4
TheSixthAxis - Dave Irwin 90 ~ 9 / 10 2018 is off to a strong start with an Dragon Ball FighterZ early contender for this year's best fighting game. By shattering some boundaries, Dragon Ball FighterZ has combat that's more than worth getting into, but also a diverse roster and some phenomenal presentation. The Story Mode could have been improved if it were more streamlined, but it's a mere blemish on an otherwise spectacular game. PS4
Push Square - Robert Ramsey 90 ~ 9 / 10 Utterly stunning in motion and effortlessly capturing the essence of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball FighterZ is a masterful video game adaptation. Its combat system is relentlessly entertaining, fusing anime sensibilities with traditional, competitive fighting game mechanics, and its accessible controls allow anyone to get in on the action. Meanwhile, the online portion of the release is robust, and really sets the bar for social interaction when it comes to fighting games. Dragon Ball FighterZ is pretty much the best anime fighting game ever made. PS4
TheSixthAxis - Dave Irwin 90 ~ 9 / 10 2018 is off to a strong start with Dragon Ball FighterZ an early contender for this year’s best fighting game. By shattering some boundaries, Dragon Ball FighterZ has combat that’s more than worth getting into, but also a diverse roster and some phenomenal presentation. The Story Mode could have been improved if it were more streamlined, but it’s a mere blemish on an otherwise spectacular game. PS4
Niche Gamer - Brandon Orselli 90 ~ 9 / 10 I was thoroughly impressed with Dragon Ball FighterZ and cannot recommend it enough to both fighting game fans and or fans of the Dragon Ball universe. It may have some minor issues here and there as it just launched, but this is a fighter you cannot pass up. PS4
GearNuke - Khurram Imtiaz 90 ~ 9 / 10 Dragon Ball FigtherZ is not only one of the best looking fighting game currently on market, it also offers easy to grasp but deep fighting mechanics. Simply put, it is one of the best Dragon Ball fighting game released this generation. XB1
Press Tart - Brodie Gibbons 90 ~ 9 / 10 Just like Rocksteady did for Batman, Arc System Works has carried Dragon Ball to the upper echelon, crafting a tag-fighting game that captures not only the series' distinctive style but its spirit. FighterZ stands alongside other versatile, yet accessible, games like Marvel vs. Capcom with ease in what is the best fighting game in recent memory. It's a shame the servers hamstring the experience so badly, rendering the game's online a bit of a mess. PS4
Paste Magazine - Holly Green 90 ~ 9 / 10 This is both the fighting game and Dragon Ball spin-off I never realized I always wanted. The production values are better, and the narrative tension is vastly improved. Given how Dragon Ball FighterZ amps up the drama on existing Dragon Ball storylines, increases engagement by allowing the player to take dialogue sequences at their own pace, and puts a polished, beautiful spin on the old cartoon, this isn't just my favorite Dragon Ball game. It's my favorite Dragon Ball anything. PC
GamePro - Michael Cherdchupan - German 87 ~ 87 / 100 Sublime anime-punch-up with scalable, very dynamic combat system that should inspire beginners and professionals alike. PS4, XB1
IGN - Mitchell Saltzman 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Between the accessible auto combos, homing attacks, and simplified command inputs, Dragon Ball FighterZ is an inviting gateway into the world of fighting games for newcomers — whether you're a Dragon Ball fan or not. Those easy controls can open the door to some spammy behavior, but just as often it's satisfying in a way that does right by the Dragon Ball name. Dragon Ball FighterZ has enough depth and complexity to glow as brilliantly as a Super Saiyan.
Areajugones - Juan Linares - Spanish 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ is a very complete fighting game and lived up to the expectations that a saga such as Dragon Ball generates. The essence of Toriyama's franchise is portrayed with great quality in every character and their moves. PS4
Reader's Gambit - Ryan Ester 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Even as a relatively distant fan of Dragon ball, I was totally invested in Dragon Ball FighterZ. PS4
COGconnected - Michael Chow 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Overall, Dragon Ball FighterZ is primed for mainstream success with its popular franchise, low barrier of entry, ease of play, great aesthetics, and fast-paced combat. Not only is the game simply a tight, pick up and play fighter, but it is one that does the source material of Dragon Ball justice. While more characters would have been nice to have, most of the household names of the series are included. Dragon Ball FighterZ is a solid fighting game with a plethora of game modes, and I cannot wait to see the game evolve after launch. XB1
Destructoid - Nick Valdez 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ has the depth more dedicated players will crave, but it doesn't stop itself from being a fun experience for everyone. Much like the series it stems from, the core of the series is based on a simple premise with deeper themes for those who wish to explore it fully. But it's got a lot of filler. PS4
PlayStation LifeStyle - Ahmed Mohamed 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 If you’re looking for a fighter, there is simply nothing better on the market than Dragon Ball FighterZ in terms of what it offers as a 2D, high action brawler. If you don’t see yourself sinking a lot of time into the game, it still might be worth it down the line just to appreciate the level of detail and care that the developers at Arc System Works have so painstakingly put into this project. Regardless, Dragon Ball FighterZ is a worthy addition to the anime’s long-running line of fighter adaptations. PS4
Destructoid - Nick Valdez 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 *Dragon Ball FighterZ has the depth more dedicated players will crave, but it doesn't stop itself from being a fun experience for everyone. Much like the series it stems from, the core of the series is based on a simple premise with deeper themes for those who wish to explore it fully. But it's got a lot of filler. * PS4
TechRaptor - Alex Santa Maria 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ is no mere licensed game or anime fighter. Sporting a fan-friendly story mode, a robust online experience and a host of other ways for you and your friends to trade ki blasts, it's clear that Arc have delivered a 2D fighter that's worthy of respect. XB1
Cerealkillerz - Manuel Barthes - German 83 ~ 8.3 / 10 Dragonball Fighterz not only manages to follow in the footsteps of Budokai but surpass nearly every previous Dragon Ball Game. The new fighting system from Arc System Works fits perfectly into the series. It's still open if Bandai Namco will delivery enough content to keep players motivated after the launch of the game but besides a generic story Dragon Ball and Fighting Game Fans will get an amazing game here. XB1
Gameblog - Jonathan Bushle - French 80 ~ 8 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ is undoubtedly the best Dragon Ball Z fighting game ever released. As the old clich' goes, it is easy to pick up and play and hard to master even if the all the characters share the same input. And it must also be pointed out that it's the prettiest anime video game ever made. Dragon Ball fans would do themselves a disservice by missing this game. PS4
Rice Digital - Oscar Taylor-Kent 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars It's the best Dragon Ball fighting game, one of the best looking fighting games in general, and a rare welcome entry point for newcomers to understand what competitive fighting games are all about. PS4
IGN Italy - Biago Etna - Italian 80 ~ 8 / 10 Difficult to remain neutral in front of Dragon Ball FighterZ: if on the one hand we have a magnificent and stunning transposition of the anime - technically and artistically really out of parameter - on the other hand we see some unbalances in the roster and a gameplay very difficult to master. This does not deny the title a place of excellence in the beat-em-up Olympus, as well as an unmissable opportunity for all Dragon Ball fans. PS4
GamingBolt - Aaron Main 80 ~ 8 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ is a truly stunning use of the anime license with a ton of tricks to master. XB1
Digitally Downloaded - Matt Sainsbury 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars That Dragon Ball FighterZ is a great fighter there can be no doubt. It's energetic, exciting, fast, and also highly technical. PS4
GameMAG - Azzy - Russian 80 ~ 8 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ - epic, bright, dynamic and surprisingly friendly fighting game. This is an excellent choice for gatherings with friends. PS4
Attack of the Fanboy - William Schwartz 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars Dragon Ball FighterZ is both an incredible game to look at and to play. Arc System Works has done right by the Dragon Ball name giving fans of the source material plenty to be happy about. PS4
Xbox Achievements - Richard Walker 80 ~ 80 / 100 A hugely enjoyable, exciting and eye-wateringly good-looking fighting game, Dragon Ball FighterZ is utterly essential for any and all self-respecting DBZ fans. And even if you're not, you'll still probably get a big old kick out Arc System Works' exuberant fighter. XB1
TrueAchievements - Marc Hollinshead 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars Dragon Ball FighterZ is a fitting entrance into the 2D fighting world for the franchise. Combat looks brilliant as you pummel the enemy and watch the vibrant colours fly across the screen, and both casual players and veterans alike will easily get their fill from the accessible controls. The substantial story is also a breath of fresh air, so there is plenty to see and do there. If you aren't willing to use the rest of your time online, however, then you may be wondering where to go next. Regardless, whether you're a Dragon Ball fan or fighting game fan, this a game that will easily satiate your appetite for a long time. XB1
GameSpew - Richard Seagrave 80 ~ 80 / 100 Whether you're a Dragon Ball fan or not, Dragon Ball FighterZ is a fighting game that you need to add to your collection. XB1
PlayStation Universe - Benjamin Shillabeer-Hall 80 ~ 8 / 10 With a varied character roster, stunning graphics and balanced gameplay, Dragon Ball Fighterz is a fantastic entry point for new players, and great fun for fans of the series. PS4
Game Revolution - Pau lTamburro 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars Dragon Ball FighterZ is a must-play for Dragon Ball and fighting game fans alike, with it combining accessible gameplay with a distinctive visual direction that perfectly emulates the franchise it's based on. XB1
Invision Community - Aidan Bates 80 ~ 8 / 10 Overall, Dragon Ball FighterZ gets an 8/10, the main gameplay is superb, reaching near the top of my favourite list of fighting games. A good majority of the game feels balanced, with the aesthetic looking gorgeous, even with some minor annoyances with light and shadows being used in the cutscenes PC
Gamers Heroes - Casey Scheld 70 ~ 7 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ's rock-solid fighting engine is both accessible and deep at the same time. The paltry selection of modes and repetitive Story Mode somewhat take away from the game, but this is one fighter worthy of any Saiyan warrior. PS4
The Outerhaven Productions - Karl Smart 70 ~ 7 / 10 Dragon Ball FighterZ looks pretty as hell, almost as good as the anime these days. However the game has a serious balancing issue, the company has a serious greed issue. Overall the more you play the game, the less you're going to like it unless you enjoy grinding against people who will combo lock you into hell. Single player gets boring quickly, leaving a terrible online experience. Expect this game to disappear into the next dimension when the next flashy anime-style fighting game arrives. PS4

ARKG4MING, ALL MAP, LITE PVP CLUSTER. A SERVER CLUSTER THAT LETS YOU PLAY THE GAME HOW YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO PLAY THAT WONT BE GOING AWAY. NEARLY 2 YEAR OLD CLUSTER WITH NOTHING BUT GREAT EXPERIENCES FOR PLAYERS PAST AND PRESENT.

- Hi there, Arkg4ming is one of the oldest and best Nitrado clusters available on Xbox and Windows today. We are a Lite PvP cluster all map cluster with over 70 active players and has more of a PvE feel than the PvP set-up that we use with a very relaxed and mature community. With events, Community Centres, admin led Boss fights, raid bases, cave runs and much more: ArkG4ming gives you a chance to play and experience the game as fully as you want and to see parts of the game you have never had the chance to take part in before.
- With the school holidays coming to an end, we have a lot of space opening up on our cluster for new players to come in and enjoy the experience that we offer.
- Valguero is a more PvP experience with character only transfers permitted from the rest of the cluster. Snow Owls are also on Valguero right now with other tames getting added every couple of weeks to keep things fresh.
- We have a big TEK ATV Rally event coming up soon on Scorched Earth, and once this is over Scorched will become a very desirable map to play on with a major update to add new tames and a fresh experience for Arks most unloved map.
- We pride ourselves on running a cluster that allows you to play the game authentically without the worries of trolling and other unsavoury factors that run wild on officials and many other clusters. So if you want to join the server just to raid others, then this is not the server for you, but if you are looking for a more long-term home on guaranteed servers that won't just disappear overnight, with occasional PvP, then we may just have the perfect servers for you.
- Starter packs available on The Island, Extinction, Ragnarok, The Center and Aberration. You receive a perfect tamed 150 Argent which also includes a 3x3 metal base, White Flags (gives you immunity from any hostilities for 2 weeks,) metal tools, Gacha Crystals, and plant X to help you on your way. (Aberration receives all of the above but with a Ravager replacing the Argentavis. All starter packs also include a random Cryo-podded tame from the Admins giveaway vaults.
- We have a few basic server rules which are more common sense than anything else, so nothing too obnoxious or restricting. Please stick to these as it's all we ask from players on our servers.
RULES
Other bits and bobs.....
Anything else at all you may want to ask, then feel free to comment or message us here, on Xbox or our pages.
We are experienced and fair admins who have been running this cluster for nearly 2 years now and most players end up having a great time with only the odd troll who doesn't respect our rules having anything bad to say.
If you are a Content Creato You-tube Streamer etc then we have a great set-up for your creative side to come to us as we are the type of cluster where progression is highly encouraged.
If a more longer-term home where you can experience all that Ark has to offer, away from the trolls and toxicity of many other servers is what you are looking for, then we might just be able to provide the home that you seek. Where anything is easy enough to obtain, but extra effort is still needed to get the best gear and tames, a relaxed community, many events and a chance to see it all, ArkG4ming has you covered.
- Search ArkG4ming in the PC Unofficial area to find our servers. ( G4M for short.)
- Look forward to speaking to you soon and seeing you survive with the rest of us

This game is so unhealthy for me...

I just need to vent. I know it might sound dramatic. It'll probably be a long read too.
I play this game so much. My sleeping schedule is already pretty off, so to me i have an advantage because i can play when everyone is offline and still grind and tame safely.
But it's the worst feeling when you are getting ready to get off and people start coming to your base. No one else is even awake yet from your tribe and you're frantically calling the group chat. Losing hours/days of work in seconds. It makes me feel horrible.
I always joke with my friends and say the exaggerated line "I can't even remember a single time I had fun on this game". Now i think back, and i really do have fun times, but most of the time things end in disappointment. I just don't think it's good for my well being. Being disappointed over and over again.
The game itself is a slight disappointment because of the potential it had that is being blocked by a bunch of bugs and neglect. I don't know if it's because of how the game was made, or the engine, laziness, incompetence, complications, etc, but I don't care at this point.
I was never really a big tribe. Every time i got to a point where i was somewhat decent, i would log on the next day to see progress wiped just like that. Lately I've been fortunate enough to be online to defend myself with raiders, but this is the 3rd day in a row of playing nothing but ark for like 18 hours of the day... Sitting in the same spot. This time I literally just turned off my Xbox, muted my group chat so they wouldn't bother me and muted my Xbox app. I just don't care. I kinda want to quit for good. It's just not healthy man...
TL;DR: another crying because i got raided post - i play so much and ark to me is just 80% disappointments. I don't think it's worth it anymore.

Absolutely no attacking White Flagged or Admin labelled bases. You will lose your structures if you do. (admins play in separate tribes)
If you are a white flagged tribe and you do attack anyone, your white flags must come down.
Offline Raiding is not permitted on our servers. This was voted in by the players so please respect this.
No violence in or around the Community Centres. These are designated safe zones.
Please keep tribe names and members the same across all servers.
Anything a tribe member does affects your whole tribe. If you bring in more players, please make sure they are also aware of our rules.
No building on Obelisks or major resource spawns, for example, Major Metal/ Crystal spawns, Beaver dams and so on.
No blocking Caves, artefacts or surface entrances. Feel free to place beds, storage box etc in these areas but any major structures will be removed.
No racial or insulting slurs in public chat please.
Other bits and bobs.....
New starts to head to 85 45 on The Island South 2 spawn area, Jungles mid and head to the ruins on the u-bend of the river at 45. 55, Viking Bay 2 on Ragnarok, Edge 2 or 3 on Aberration at top of the waterfall and Sanctuary East by the Beaver Dams on Extinction. You will find a Community Centre and safe zone at these locations, all plants and turrets are set to wild only here.
Rates are slightly boosted to official with 3x XP, 5x tame, breed, hatch, 3.5x gather with other slight boosts to player and dino levelling, fuel usage and player drains with nothing being overpowering. (Ask if you want any more deets on this or head to our page for full rates and server reviews)
Stack mods are active on our cluster. Nothing too overpowering but the general rule is 200 stacks for crafted resources, 250 stacks for raw resources, 500 stacks for super light resources. There are a few exceptions to this with metals at 500, organic poly at 50 etc....
Loot Drop rates are at 2x.
Monthly colour events and double taming breeding events (10x for 1 week each month.)
Owner Gamertags are ziplobthud and o snip3r girl x and are available for questions and issues on all maps and MATTWV88 for Island, Borr1s Johns0n for The Center, N0stalgikid for Valguero, CTMilhoan for Ragnarok who are our admins who can help with starter kits and other lighter issues.
We have a facebook news page at facebook.com/arkg4ming, if you can't reach us on Xbox, this will be your best point of contact although server rules must be read on the page before you get your starter kit.
We have an active Xbox Club called ArkG4ming Servers, feel free to join and use this for any general chat and trades etc with the community and to have your say on how the server runs.
Discord is finally coming over the next couple of weeks as requested by our players.

[Xbox One Server] Desperate for a tribe on official Small Tribes.

Hello, if you clicked on this post then you're probably recruiting for your Small Tribes group on Xbox One. I know that it is not likely to be recruited from Reddit, or really anywhere, given how difficult it is to trust anyone on ARK, officials especially. I am very interested in playing official small tribes on Xbox with a chill group. I don't want to be a part of a group that bosses each other around, has bickering within the group, so on and so forth. I want to create lasting friendships with some chill people and have fun while kicking some ass on official PvP. Here's a little background about myself.
I'm a twenty year old, male college student, studying to become a history teacher. The reason I stated that I don't want to join a group that treats each other poorly or like business associates is because I do suffer from anxiety and I don't do very well with confrontational people. I'm from the USA, the state of Virginia, and I am currently unemployed (job + school has never mixed well for me). I have a lot of time on my hands and therefore I have a lot of time to play ARK when I'm not hanging out with my girlfriend (whom I live with). I have more than 4,000 hours on ARK last time I checked. About 60% of that time was spent on official PvE, 35% of it was spent on unofficial PvP servers, and maybe 5% of it has been spent on officials. My experience with official servers have not been the best, but it has always been a fantasy of mine to play on official servers and do well at it at least just once so that I can say that I've done it.
I know pretty much everything there is to know about the game. I've played my fair share of PvP and been on my fair share of raids (online and offline), I just haven't been bothered to try my luck on official servers since over a year ago. I'm not a very good PvPer I will admit, but I do grind a lot. At the moment I have a level 63 character on small tribes. I used to have a level 80 character on small tribes somewhere but I appear to have lost the character somewhere. I am hoping I will be able to find it.
Sorry if this post was a little lengthy just to ask if anyone is recruiting, but I figure I have the best chance at finding a group if I at least give a little bit of background about myself. I swear I'm not this talkative and annoying on a daily basis. If anyone would be willing to let me join their group, it would be much appreciated.
As a side note, I used to have a YouTube channel (search LawngNose), my last video was about how poor the state of ARK was and I never bothered to make another video since.
I hope to hearing from someone. Feel free to message me here on Reddit, Xbox (GT: LawngNose), or Discord (LawngNose#7341).

Ark Ruined my Group of Friends of 10 years

When ark came to Xbox one, I was really excited, more than anyone I knew! I loved survival games and had played them on PC the last few years. One the release of the game preview I convinced at least 7 of my friends to buy it that same day, and they convinced their friends to get it. I think I was the only one that really understood what I was getting into.
I had been playing the game before anyone else so they all joined my server, they moved into my small shack and I began to teach them about the game, we spent hours collecting materials and taming dinosaurs, and finally got a decent base going. I kept insisting that we build a certain way to maximize our defensive position and survivability, but some of my friends didn't agree to how I wanted to build so I just let them do their thing.
They build a nice building we moved all our supplies into the base and I told them about the logging off, where when you log off your character stays in the game so you can still die in game. Some of them just went to sleep on the ground out side, and I dragged their bodies into the shack before I myself logged off. The next day there was only 1 or 2 casualties. My angry friends spent hours complaining on the microphone that they couldn't figure out how to get back to the base and I told them we needed to build beds for this. Eventually everyone got back and we kept building, so many hours of chopping wood, and picking up stone. I spent the last day taming two Trikes, and when i logged off one of my friends killed one for meat not knowing it was tamed. Lesson learned, some of my friends yelled at him, another friend hit a large dinosaur and it then attacked our base destroying a wall they had spent all day building, that friend was kicked out of our xbox party chat, I don't think he ever logged back into the game, but there was enough of us I didn't hardly notice at the time. Over the next few weeks it went like this, learning as we go. I still think they never really understood what type of game this is, and what they were really getting themselves into. The more work they invested in the game was really just creating more for them to lose, but they kept stockpiling, ignorant of all my tips and tricks I kept suggesting, and they sort of reacted as if i'm some kind of criticizer, always telling them what they should do, so i left it alone. Another tribe popped up on the sand next to us a few days later, and they followed my lead as we busted down the door and killed them in their sleep taking all their supplies and carrying them back into the chests in our own storage room. They enjoyed it laughing and having a grand ol time of pillaging. We logged off, the next day a few of the tribe we attacked showed up at our gate throwing spears and we chased them off into the forest. We kept building and had come up with a nice wooden fortress and I kept insisting we need to get metal and build some decent walls, but they were sick of hearing me tell them how to play. They all logged off and I was the last one on it was late something like 4am, I was basically just standing guard and then it came, a tribe far more advanced then us came, there was nothing I could do, they had guns when we had spears. Their metal tools took our doors down like butter in the sun. The next day they all woke up dead, all the chest empty. Immediately right then was the rage, people waking up and logging into " WHAT THE F HAPPENED" I would explain we got raided its okay, we will rebuild its part of the game don't worry about it, some of them quit right then and there, but I finally convinced them all that it was okay and we rebuilt.
A few weeks went by and this happened every so often, slowly my friends would disappear, angry at us, angry at each other, angry at the game, some of them never came back online. The ones that remained kept playing. Then one day, after a long days work of hunting, gathering, I logged off, our base was rebuilt we had a good collection of supplies and a nice wall protecting it all. I logged back in to find that I was now in a tribe by myself dead I ran back to the where our base was, only to find my other friends dead body and his little bag of loot on the ground. The entire base was gone, every single building. I looked at my friends list to find that a bunch of them were in a party by themselves and it was set to private. These guys i had known for ever, they were my friends, we played all sorts of games together over the years, nothing like this until now tho.
I messaged them being like " hey whats up, where did our base go? No response,
I kept staring at the empty piece of land that once held our base and now the trees were even growing back,
my friend finally logged back in, the one dead and he sent me a message over xbox, "yo dude i'm done" he said.. "they made their own tribe" he messaged next.
I finally got an invite to the private party, and all i said is hey guys "whats up" they were all awkward, quiet, and it was really weird. The whole atmosphere was like walking in on your wife cheating on you. Nobody responded.
I said I messaged you guys earlier but the party was private, wheres the base at why aren't you playing with "so and so"
Finally one of them spoke up and said I, know I should have invited you. We made our own tribe.
"So what happened? " i responded.
"Well we admin demolished everything and made a new base" he said.. oh wow i said, we spent a lot of work on that, So where are you guys at now. "we don't want you in our tribe anymore" he said "we made an alliance with the tribe you attacked on the first day and they said you specifically killed them all, and that they would keep killing us if you were in the tribe, so we don't want you in the tribe anymore".
I was shocked, hurt, ashamed my friends came to this point. You have to remember that 2 months ago I was begging them to buy the game to play with me. I had known these guys for 10 years.
I responded with wow, I thought we were like good friends, you guys all were with me when we attacked them that first night.
I then got the notification that I was "removed from the party"
I sat there looking at my friends list, many of my friends had removed me, only 2 or 3 of the original group were even playing ark, most of them appearing offline now, or just playing other games.
From that point on our group of friends was ruined.
We played many games together over the years, what we had was amazing at times, and it was all good until this game came out, it had changed us. It had created situations that brought out the worst in one another. I tried to reach out to some of my friends that played in the first week and I apologized to a couple of them saying, I'm sorry we all got mad at you when you let that t-rex in our base. It would just be like its okay man, I didn't like that game anyway.. Others would joke that they only ever picked berrys, and that our other exfriends wouldn't let us do anything but slave work.
Slowly we all stopped talking to each other tho, it was like our friendships had been killed, it just wasn't the same. It was like trying to hang out with your best friend after he did something terrible to you. It just wasn't your best friend anymore, none of us were friends anymore.
To this day I wonder even why I still have an xbox, I'm still sort of tramatized by what happened. I haven't even really played multiplayer games with other people ever since.
I just wanted to share my story, of how the game I loved just destroyed everything. Perhaps nobody is ready for a game like this, for those who's friendships have survived the trials of ark, i applaud you. It really got the best of mine.

Yeah you can play split screen online but only on a non dedicated server. I think it means the Xbox that has the save file has to world saved onto it and that Xbox has to be online for others to join. I’m not sure what non dedicated server is but that’s the only one that can be played with split screen Because you're running a private server, you can choose who is able to join your game: friends, public players, or no one.
